Did Lionel ever agree to fix/replace Missouri Pacific road name misspelling (Missouri was misspelled) on steam engine tender ? I sent note to them - nothing but crickets. So much for quality control.

I returned mine for a refund immediately because I figured this would happen. It's incredibly sorry behavior. I learned my lesson. Fool me once...
I'm not familiar with the engine in that picture from NYC Fan. Here's a picture of my Missouri Pacific USRA Light Mountain (1931070) tender. I owned the engine for 24 hours last summer before I shipped it back.

Wow, How does something like this happen???
If they're not inspecting the actual locomotive, they should at least see photos before shipment.
Same way it always happens at Lionel. Run that new Hudson of yours Skip, and listen to the 5 chuffs per revolution.
After decades of being short 2 now you get 1 extra.
Preorder beware.
The takeaways ...
1) Someone at Lionel can't spell in English
2) Someone at Lionel wasn't paying attention
3) Someone at the factory in China can't spell in English
4) Someone at the factory in China wasn't paying attention.
The conspiracy theory explanation:
A ferocious competitor sneaked the spelling error into production at the factory.
The Governor of Missouri should demand an apology and a FREE model to place on display in its HALL OF SHAME museum. However, the UofM football team takes "poetic license" to extreme with MIZZOU printed on team jerseys.
Unfortunately, these and other spelling errors are not likely to cause an outcry for elevating the importance of SPELLING in schools and in life. A modest proposal: replace the emphasis on "self esteem" in schools and instead require mastery of English and a perfect score on a spelling test of the 100 most commonly botched words. Factoid: the tiny words "its" and "it's" are near the top of that list; which is proof that spelling isn't rocket science.

I would keep trying. I put in a parts order 3 weeks ago and it was just charged to my card today, so things are on limited staff there I assume.
A little black magic marker will take care of the extra "I". (humor)
Heavy Weathering!!!
Thirty years from now a collector will pay big buck to get one
The color is correct.
Actually, the color is incorrect: MoPac used dull aluminum lettering--which fades to a very light gray after years of service--but not white.
Of course, most of us have more important things on our minds right now . . . .
Another one for the shelf with Huck Fin, Nortern, Merrmac, etc.
At first I was going to ask what the problem was, it probably matched the catalog picture Skip posted , but then I noticed it's misspelled differently on the real piece, so it's wasn't checked against the misspelled catalog artwork either.

Spelling errors , like poop, happen.
As an example check out Sunset Model's full page ad on the back cover of the latest issue of OGR. The caption over the pic of their new beautiful EP-3 reads "MILW EP-3 ELECRIC".

To me that is not a spelling error, more of a grammar error, still an error though.
The one that I see the most of, even on the OGR forum is your for you're.

Some people can't keep track of they're apostrophes either. Their not good spellers, but we like them anyway.

Using "loose" in place of "lose". Has to be the most common mistake!

They just happen a lot more with Lionel. Ask what the new SD70AH owners think...I mean SD70M...or was that SD70ace? Lionel put something different on each side. Incompetence.
