I have a nice size layout with 4 major loops (2 on the lower level and 2 on the upper level) the lower level is powered by a Z-400 and the upper by an old ZW. I use both a DCS control system and a Legacy control system. The two control systems are cross connected via the ground from each transformer. Also I use a DM TMC Buffer V1.1 connected to one track on both levels.  Power flows to all loops via the TIU. The lower level has the fixed outputs and the upper level the variable outputs. I usually set the output to 17 to 19 volts. It is my understanding that the TMC/Legacy engines will not activate until you address them via CAB2 via the startup command. On both levels the TMC engines light up (6-28074 2-10-4 T-1 TMCC (upper level)) and the (6-38058 2-8-8-2 H-7 TMCC (lower level) and you do not need to activate them their ready go.  I do not think this is normal operation. Can you confirm that this is normal operation when the systems are cross connected via the ground? If not how do I fix it.

As long as you have the Legacy connected to the black terminal for both tracks, the TMCC will run, using Dales Buffer, route the Legacy to the buffer, then to the black terminal on each output of the Z 4000.  If your Legacy base is buried behind anything, you may want to use a larger antenna.
