I like the S1, but I was a bit disappointed they didn't include whistle steam in those.  I'm not nearly as enamored by the safety valve steam feature.

Well, like Ryan said the S1 did not have a whistle but instead a horn. Instead of just getting a horn, Lionel decided to go ahead and put a whistle in it. Also, Ryan said that there was nowhere to put a whistle or even the system for the effect so they substituted it with the safety vale effect.

The flat with stakes and I-Beam load looks interesting (I think that's new, right? Or my memory is not as good as it used to be).  Probably the Angela Trotta Thomas "Well Stocked Shelves - bottom shelf" boxcar.

A light catalog for me in the "must haves" department, which is a good thing (for me, at the moment).  I possibly went a little too heavy on Lionel V1 and the final MTH catalog, so this one will be a nice break if I only order a piece or 2 of rolling stock.

The Ten Wheelers are very tempting especially at a very attractive price. The Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern 225 in particular looks quite attractive.

Normally I'd groan at the reintroduction of the light Mikados for the umpteenth time, but I'm very curious how they'll do no. 4070. I'm a little surprised it wasn't lettered for the Cuyahoga Valley Line, but I'm very interested in how Lionel does the 5 different whistle options for this locomotive.

4070

Hopefully one of these whistles will be an option!

The Lionmaster Cab Forwards look tempting, but I'm a bit disappointed those don't have whistle steam. Shame...

The Standard O rolling stock I'm happy to see back, and at reasonable prices, too.

I will admit the S-1 is intriguing but I won't pull the trigger until I see one in person.  They do look great in the catalog.  I was hoping for a few more Star Trek items but I guess I'll have to wait another catalog for a Dilithium Ore car.

I'' look through it better tonight but I'm pretty saturated with trains right now so it will have to be something special before I pull the trigger for sure.  Again I will risk waiting to see the delivered products first.

@KOOLjock1 I too was surprised in the Sofa King building.  I figured that was MTH's gimmick but I guess Lionel is taking it over.  Maybe Mike sold them the rights for naming buildings.

Nothing much. Lots of redoes and repaints using tooling from the Todd Wagner era of product development from over 15 years ago. The Gensets are a big step down from my UP Vision Line version. I purchased a Legacy NYC ten-wheeler the last time it was offered. A thoroughly redone Legacy PRR T1 with the correct tender would have been a bigger hit than a redo of the S1. The Flyer is exceedingly thin.  It is all 'academic' anyway. No more Chionel for this engineer until Lionel finds a place to make this stuff somewhere (anywhere!) else than the PRC.

Enjoy, if you can.

I'm definitely in for a 4-6-0...which one is the hard thing to figure out. I think I'll have to narrow it down between a Canadian Pacific/Strasburg 972, Boston and Maine or Rutland.

Was a little bummed about the Southern 4501...was hoping it would be green. MTH did a beautiful one a few years ago I always kind of kicked myself for not picking up.

The GP7 sets are tempting...that Southern catches my eye and I'm not a Southern guy at all. Despite just taking delivery of the MTH Daylight Cab Forward, something tells me it "might be nice to have a black one...."

Ah decisions, decisions...

The highs of catalog anticipation are matched by the lows of seeing virtually nothing for me. But that's fine. I'm mostly a PW guy who operates with my ZW and is always on the look out for some traditional stuff, especially the PW inspired or classics items. Lionel seems to have all but abandoned that market (notwithstanding the way overpriced SF Set in Volume 1).

Having said that, I had to go back and check but do have a half dozen items coming from Volume 1, all with Q3 and Q4 deliveries. One of these is the Lion Chief 2.0  0-6-0t which will be my first LC 2.0 item and am definitely looking forward to that one.

As is my usual custom will go back over the catalog again, including the hard copy I know will be coming from Ro. Sometimes I find something the 2nd or 3rd time around.
