I by no means am even close, to Professional status, I am still reaching for Amateur status in the world of Youtube. I did a video on weathering comparison of two talented gentlemen, Harry Hieke and Steve Phetterplace. I did not get into the weeds on detail but wanted to provide a visual comparison between the two. Weathering is all in the eye of the beholder, …..one man’s taste isn’t the other’s ….also depends on the era you’re modeling. Remember, when steam locomotives were new, and maintenance/upkeep was paramount, maybe a light weathering is in order,…road grime, dust, perhaps some light rust stains, & water stains look right, ……later on when the railroads were losing profits left & right, then we see more neglect, and a heavier weathering would be appropriate, as maintenance & care dwindled…..but, as I’ve said, it’s in the eye of the enthusiast as to what’s appropriate,…..the above models look nice!..
