I, too, prefer cans and cruise (Timko did an L3a Mohawk for me) , but many Pullmors run very well, especially when run-in. If your needs and layout fall within the basic operating envelope of a Pullmor (no grades, no long, long trains, no "creeping" required) they can be very satisfactory, even at slower speeds. My 5344/700E cruises pretty well - well enough that I don't want to "can" it.

Some are noisy, some are not. Go figure.

But - still waiting for Lionel to produce a "kit" for Pullmor to can conversion in all those nice, sturdy Hudsons (and Mohawks) that are out there. I'll take 3.
