Threatening to jump on a lionmaster steam loco due to its proportion and  good looks. However, I run conventional and my legacy diesel units are not impressive smokers. Is there any reason to think this lionmaster will be different at 12-15 volts instead of 18+?

A steamer needs to smoke! What is your experience?

Marty, that may be my issue.  I changed over a few months ago from Z1000s to a Z4000.  I don't run smoke all the time (or all locos all the time either for that matter).  There seemed to be a noticeable drop in smoke when I ran the legacy locos- nothing appeared to change on MTH or lionchief plus.  I did not connect the dots.

I don't have a legacy steamer, is it reasonable to assume the lionmaster uses the same smoke system as a legacy diesel?  I may need to dig up some lionel parts lists.
