Just got my Lionel Lionmaster Class A today. Awesome engine. Sounds are right out of the Y6b. Smokes great, whistle steam is great. Runs great, actually too great. This thing flies. Can't watch it at speed step 200. 

What's going on with the Lionmaster speed? Low end speeds are too fast and high end speeds are off the charts. Is this something new? I can't MU with my other Legacy engines either? The engine module sets the engine as a Pullmore Steam engine. I tried to find something to slow it down, no luck. 

Jon do you have any advice?

Try changing it to a "Legacy" engine.

No offense here guys but I'm not new to Legacy. As I stated in my first post, I tried to set the engine to other engine types, STEAM, DIESEL, SWITCHER, ETC. 

None of those types made a difference. The manual states to set it up like the module did. PULLMORE STEAM, LEGACY, LEGACY SOUNDS

I need someone else who got one of these engines to jump in please! Thanks!

I can live with the issue. I'm just not use to that fast of a Legacy engine. I want to know if the operation is normal?

No, you can't, and no, it's not. What the problem is I don't know (I don't have Legacy - just TMCC - running some Legacy locos, though), but if sending it back is necessary, it's worth it.

 I have a Wabash 0-8-0 with the same issue. Didn't catch it when I loaded the module in the remote. Tried running it with my I Pad and noticed the Flyer Pullmor listed with the engine on the roster menu. Reset the engine in the remote to a Steam Switcher. Runs much like yours. I have an older model Legacy  0-8-0. When that one is running at speed step 10 on the remote. The Wabash is keeping pace with it at speed step 1. If you use the RR speed icons. The first one is suppose to be about yard speed. It's running at passenger train speed. So fast the chuffs aren't even distinguishable. I've contacted Lionel but they haven't been much help. The have me trying an engine reset and now want me to try it in conventional.

The setting for Flyer/Pullmor is correct.  The setting configures the locomotive class, which mainly configures the Cab-2 to work with this loco's electronics package.  If you set it for Legacy Steam, it will work the same way.   The electronics uses BEMF motor feedback and won't lash up with locomotives with encoders, which is why the type is set as described. 

The reason we went this route, is the space is limited inside of these locomotives and the Standard Legacy electronics would not have physically fit inside the product.  We felt that product was desirable, and thus decided to deliver the product with the electronics we have available.

So this does not have all of the Legacy features??

So what's in the Lionmaster Challenger 6-82694 ? About the same physical size...

Thanks Jon. At least it's no longer a mystery. Learn something new everyday. I imagine without knowing this one could be rather confused on its operation being so different from standard encoder engines. So I assume this is the same programming for the 0-8-0 that was reported to have a different speed curve?  

Was there any information in the manual alerting a user to the difference?

  I bought my 0-8-0 expecting the same performance as the recently released Pennsy B6 switcher. A small engine. Which I have run but do not own. One of the best running engines I've seen.  The wire tether I thought was a huge improvement making it pretty much impossible to stall out.

 I planned to use my 0-8-0 in pusher service as a rd. helper. Looks like I can't do that. 

 Doesn't switch the yard as good as my old Odyssey 0-8-0 or Legacy 0-8-0 from a few years ago.

  Looks like I bought an 800 dollar lemon.
