Hi guys!

I recently purchased an MTH genset switcher, I oiled it per instructions and put it on the tracks, it worked just fine for a little while. It did sit for a while while I got busy with other things.

When I started using it again, the rear wheels started to spin like they're not getting traction. At first it was just in certain parts of the track. Now when I placed it back on the track it just sits and spins with no movement. As part of my troubleshooting I did take a dry washcloth and went over all of my track and switches, parts of it were oily.

I am attaching a video of the problem, a picture of the underside. I also noticed a spot on my track where the wheels were spinning. Any help diagnosing the problem and potential fixes would be greatly appreciated!

Wipe the wheel/tire and flange well, maybe with a solvent on a rag if bad.

Track, wipe the top and flange rub, thats it.

Wheel slip in one spot can be twisted , bent rail(s) there.

(aside from other suggestions)

When you oil, set the loco on a rag afterwards and give an hour to overnight for gravity to work. Later, wipe the backside and bottom flange of each wheel well before running. Otherwise centrifugal force throws your excess all over.
