Loader v2.3 installation problem on XP | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

When I try to install Loader 2.3 on my XP, I get an error message saying that I need to have .NET 3.5.

My good old basement XP (which is not connected to the Internet) is 32bit, and, according to the HKEY lookup, I have .NET v2.0.50727 on it.

According to the Loader v2.3 instructions, a 32 bit machine only needs .NET 2.0 or higher, and it will automatically be installed anyway.

Anyway, here is what I am doing so far. As I said, my basement PC is a 32 bit XP, without Internet. My main PC, upstairs, is 64 bit Windows 7, which is my Internet connection.

First, I uninstalled Loader v2.1 from the XP.

I then downloaded the v2.3 32 bit zipped file from the MTH site, copied it to a thumbdrive, then took the thumbdrive down to my XP and copied the zipped file from the thumbdrive to my XP desktop. Then I unzipped the file and ran Setup, and that's when I get the error.

Has anyone run into this or have any suggestions?

Try the entire process using the 64 bit version with .NET.

That worked, it installed .NET 3.5 on my XP with no complaints about 64/32 bit.

Remote & TIU upgraded OK, play time tomorrow!
