I am curious if anyone has noted any feature losses or issues after they updated to version 6.10 on their DCS systems?

So far I have noted that the firebox glow on my PS3 AFT #1 and Reading T-1 does not work.  I have not tried a feature reset yet. Also, this is the TIU that GGG repaired and updated - if that would make a difference.

Any help would be appreciated.

GunRunnerJohn, I tried the feature reset on both T-1 locomotives. There was no change.

GGG, I wasn't sure whether or not the TIU would be in the equation, but figured I would ask.

RJR, the soft key feature is what I tried first, but failed to mention that in my original post.

I tried the engine reset on both the other night, with no change.  So I removed the boiler on both engines and put my multimeter on the LED. The voltage through the ohm meter was enough to get the LED to flicker (on both engine boilers).  For "laughs", I removed the boiler from my PS3 WM H-9 to compare wiring from the boiler mounted board. My "guess" was that the H-9 wiring and the AFT #1 wiring would be same from the board connector out to the LED connectors. They are the same. Compared the Reading to the AFT #1, the only difference was the additional wire for the number board lead.

Both of the T-1's were purchased in the fall of 2017. Both were tested and functioned correctly. The AFT #1 has since been on display in my office at work. The Reading unit being run often enough until I had the issue last November and it went to the technician.  Now I would understand the possibility that the board on the Reading T-1 potentially being damaged do to the high current draw when the motor went bad - only a guess since I am not a technician or that savvy with electronics.  The AFT #1 however baffles me. This is what prompted me to ask if it could be the software upgrade.

I may try going back to the DCS 6.00 upgrade and see what happens. Nothing beats a try except a failure... lol...

All,

I tried going back to DCS software version 6.00, no change.

The Reading T-1 is fully functional again after I tried the factory reset, recover engine, TIU off then on and add engine procedure.  AFT #1 T-1 is not recovering with this method, so I will try the conventional reset per GGG.

When you have the AFT T-1 powered up conventionally, turn off power and see if it plays shutdown sounds.  If it abruptly goes silent, the supercaps have issues.

Either way though as long as power applied a feature and or factory reset should restore those light functions.  Is there no softkey for controlling Firebox light? G

GGG,

Yes, there is a soft key feature for it. I have tried that several times. (Did feature reset with it indicated as on, then as off - no change. Tried the engine reset with the key indicating on, then off - again no change.)

When I operated it in conventional and cut off the power, the engine went through the shutdown sequence. My plan is to try the conventional reset this evening and go from there.

Thanks.

GGG,

Is the flash code a separate process from the whole sound file?  I just downloaded the sound file and may try that this evening.

Sorry it took a while to get back to you on this issue.  I have been very busy at work and at home.  A lot of aircraft maintenance issues and our family adopted a rescue puppy seven weeks ago. He is taking more time/attention than we expected.  lol..

When you open the PS-3 Sound File, you will have two parts.  One is the SF other is the Flash File.  Know where they are saved.  When you go to load the FLash code it will only look for the Flash File.  Same when you go to load the Sound File, the program will look for the SF, which ends with .mth  G
