Hello, I have a small layout I am going to build for a friend and I need a small amount of older Post War O-gauge track.  It does not have to be mint i just want it in good condition.

Here is a list of what I need if anyone can help.

12- Straight Sections

4- 1/2 Straight Sections

15- O31 Curved sections

2- Half curves

4- O72 curves

Thanks in advance!

Mike

Mike,

It looks like your LHS has what you need in stock new from Lionel:

I would think they would have a stock of serviceable used track, but it has been a while since I visited personally to vouch.

If that is too pricey for you, or you are looking for used Lionel NY track, take a day trip with your friend to https://despatchjunction.com/ in East Rochester, NY or head to http://villagetrainandhobby.com/ in the grater Binghamton, NY area. You can get bundles of very serviceable used track for cheap (as well as new). Both locations have a neat layout take and stock a surprising amount of O Gauge.

@JR Junction Train & Hobby in the grater Syracuse NY area also has the track new, and sometimes has a decent supply of used serviceable pieces as well, but that is probably stretching your range.

@Mannyrock, I presume the poster is looking for what is traditionally called "tubular track" which has over a century of manufacture.

Postwar is generally accepted to be 1945-1969 (Get a quick history here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lionel_Corporation ).

When speaking of Lionel tubular track, there are many variations to the astute with different tie stamping, hole patterns, angle tweaks of crossovers, metal makeup, and so much more. Even this very in depth virtual museum only scratches the surface: https://railwaypages.com/track-identification

If you are a TCA member, their quarterly publication has has a few articles on Lionel tubular track variations and geometry as well. This hobby has so many facets and niches it is almost unbelievable.

Take a look at tinman3rail.com.  He's one of the Forum sponsors and has rehabilitated tubular track at reasonable prices.
