Hey all!
Looking for the 5-car set of MTH NJ Transit Streamlined coaches. #20-65023. If anyone has them, feel free to send me an email directly through the email address on my profile. New/used, box/no box, doesn't matter to me! Thank you!

Same here. After searching high and low I've realized MTH never released any of the NJ Transit Streamlined series. If you look at their pages on the MTH site they all say canceled. I was told it might have had something to do with the NJT logo although I don't know how they got away with any others.
I'm not a collector and already bought the NJT E8 ABA since I live near the rail line it announces and I'm setting up a game room.
I've now been researching the closest ones that were released to modify and the New York Central is very close. Amtrak as well but I think the NYC set is closer and easier. The only stretch is covering the New York Central on the top. I don't think I'll attempt to remove anything. Covering it will do fine for me since it's going high on the walls.
The other one I could to be similar is the Southern set. There's a few others that are close but they either have texture lines high on the car or they don't have black wheel housings.
Seems like a black vinyl strip across the middle with the NJT color strips at the ends as well as the car numbers and names will do. If I can't find a vinyl to match the car color I'll have a printer match it so I can cover the NYC wording.
Best of luck finding them. It took me ~12 years to find that set and I will admit I paid quite a bit over the MSRP.
Have you considered looking into the Atlas O Comets? They are doing a re-run of the passenger and cab cars.
I am repainting three smooth side MTH 70‘ cars into the NJDOT scheme. They were blue and silver with red stripes.
I am also doing one MTH 70’ stainless ribbed coach in the Penn Central/DOT scheme.
NJT coaches may be a future project. I too, have the NJT E8. I wish they did one in the old DOT scheme...

Sorry all, should have posted an update. I ended up finding the set of cars that I was searching for. Pretty hard and definitely not cheap to find, but worth it. They are beauties!
Best of luck to anyone else searching. Keep at it, they'll eventually pop up.

@Joeb2497 I'm new to this and I'm a few layers deeper in the research now. I think what you have is Premier from 2003 and I'm referring to the Railking in 2017. Please correct me if I'm wrong because if there's still a Sasquatch out there for me to find I'll need to get back in the woods lol
When I'm done doing the mods to the New York Central Streamlined cars as NJT I'll post here. Going to stop in Penn Station this week and find some print materials with the actual colors on them for a printer to replicate for me on sheets to cut for logo lines.

Removed the letters and numbers from a New York Central Coach last night. Having th vinyl made to do the NJT black overlay on the windows with the NJT color stripes built into it.
I looked into the Atlas Comets but those Vista Domes have my eyes lol

If you do the NJT I've found these Streamlined cars to be an easy mod.
Compatible
New York Central
Southern
Burlington
Richmond ,Fredericksburg & Potomac
California Zephyr
Pennsylvania black roof
New Haven black roof
Penn Central black roof
Atlantic Coast Line black roof
I've included the four at the end if you'd like to match the black roof on the NJT E8. The MTH pictures show it without the black roof but their old Premier ones didn't have the black strip across the windows either.
I might end up doing the roofs black but currently I've only worked on an NYC Coach.
Thanks for the list.
Here are smooth side stainless cars they used to run on the Boonton Line. They are plain stainless with the Transit chevrons at each end....
Sorry for the lousy picture...

Looks like the roofs were black like the engines. I wonder if that was the case for the Streamlined cars as well.
