Mac Shops kits build into rather heavy models. The extruded aluminum body is equipped with pewter castings for the car ends, doors and some additional details.

The sleeper was too heavy (even without interior details) for Kiel Line's correct, cast metal, sprung, streamline trucks. Instead, American Light-weight streamline trucks made of Delrin were modified for Budd disc brakes and installed to handle the car's 2 1/2 lb weight. This car now has a simpliified, light-weight interior done in card stock and wood.

The RDC-2 is even heavier and is close to 4 lbs, because of the cast pewter roof blister and larger car ends. This car has a detailed interior, crew, passsngers, interior and directional lighting as well as special details and decal lettering for a B&O Speed Liner. It is powered with two NWSL Magic Carpet drives on 33 inch wheels fitted to All Nation RDC trucks that were modified to resemble the later General Steel Castings RDC truck.
