I’m interested in Maine railroads and recently acquired a Maine Central F3 diesel by MTH. My rolling stock includes an MEC boxcar and caboose, and two Bangor and Aroostook boxcars. This is enough for a “Maine Train” in O gauge, as shown in the following photos and video. Does anyone else have an O gauge/scale “Maine Train?”

No locos or caboose, but got 3 or 4 Maine-related box cars. Will post photos later.

Your Maine diesel is gorgeous. Arnold

I'm in too Mel. Running Northeast lines would have to include equipment from the most north and east state in the lower 48. I also love the red white and blue SoM cars.

If I had the layout space I could conceivably run an opp session starting in this order: BAR/ MEC- NH- D&H- NYC- LIRR- PRR- B&O/C&O, and so on and so on

Need to add some MEC one day. That F3 is a beauty.

The Maine Central colors really make for a good looking caboose.

Hi Mel,

I'm originally from Maine and have lived in New England all my life, except for college in PA. I have nice memories of visiting Rigby Yard in South Portland with my Dad, and seeing all the yellow Maine Central and blue Boston & Maine diesels. I guess most of my fleet counts as "Maine trains," except for some New Haven and NYC.

The layout pics are from my old house, the engines on display are on shelves I just installed in our current place. I'm plugging away on my new layout now, which is much easier now that my engines aren't all over the table.

Thanks for this topic, and all your posts,

Alan P.

Blue comet! Yes, thanks. I was on my way to your neighborhood earlier this year but....well you know the rest! I also had work call me in right before attending the last Augusta show where we would have met , Rats!

John, Hope you and your wife are well and have a safe path for 2021.

Bob, I like that blue B&A BEEP and of course the 40 footers! Question: Does the Lionel Jeremiah O’Brian have plastic gears? How do they run? Look great!

I have the Atlas Maine caboose shown , in 2 rail. It’s a gem.

will attempt photos of Maine train equipment tomorrow, day off without cal! YAAAH!

I'm not sure about the gears. I gave it a good servicing when I bought it and except for a cranky e-unit it runs OK. Only one pick up roller though which is an easy fix when I get around to it. A Dallee reverse unit will go in it one day too.

Bob

And while there are other MEC & B&A boxcars  that need to be assembled I will be quite busy when retired while rebuilding  my O scale layout as well.
and now, the moment I have been waiting for.
Mel, I have unboxed the F3!

some required ( instruction manual ) reading will take place shortly.

Wow what a beautiful loco! Thank you MTH and certainly a warm appreciative thank you to Beth Marshall.

this engine is highly detailed!

fresh ground Coffee in French press.....nothing quite like the aroma of coffee and a brand new locomotive plus the instruction manual .

Merry  belated Christmas to me! Lol.

Mel, I need to spend some time laying some track.
But until then. I will need a loop to run the F3 and select rolling stock sooner than later! will keep you posted.

s some of you may be aware , the long overdue project of painting my brass W&R phase 1-C   44 tonner in MEC #11 green livery is next. I have two sets of custom made decals plus a commercial set. Now all I need is nerves of steel,  steady eye- hand coordination, and the hang of this thing called an airbrush! Lol.
that will complete all the Maine Central equipment I think I will run in my future.
Holy smokes! I am going to need a ton of trees! I will make them too, great examples all around me!
