Maine Trains in O Gauge

Always loved State Of Maine boxcars. Somewhere in my HO stuff is a Maine Trees boxcars. What caught my eye on that boxcar all those years ago was the off color orange and green lettering. I'm not sure if the orange was supposed to be rusty type color, or if that was the color it should be. Never seen a boxcar like that in O.

I don’t have a “Maine Train”, but I have always loved the State of Maine boxcars...

Mel, I bought the same engine in O scale two rail.
I have not unboxed it yet. My  Scale layout is currently dismantled.  It is a retirement bucket list project.
As for your 3 rail engine, thank you for the gorgeous demonstration video!

Up until last year, I didn't own any Maine locomotives, which is pretty sad considering I live here. All I had was a couple of "State of Maine" boxcars. Here are 2 B&M locos I recently added: one from MTH and one from Williams.

Oh man, I was on call, Off  today but that phone rang and it Looks like the current state of affairs at work predisposes me to roll up my sleeves!  Mel and friends, my  Maine train photos will arrive late or tomorrow.

We now return to regularly schedule chaos plus thoughts of retirement! Lol.

I'm in too Mel. Running Northeast lines would have to include equipment from the most north and east state in the lower 48. I also love the red white and blue SoM cars.

If I had the layout space I could conceivably run an opp session starting in this order: BAR/ MEC- NH- D&H- NYC- LIRR- PRR- B&O/C&O, and so on and so on

Need to add some MEC one day. That F3 is a beauty.

The Maine Central colors really make for a good looking caboose.

One of the schemes I did not pick up, but here is a Maine related FL9.  At least in pre-production phase.

I'm originally from Maine and have lived in New England all my life, except for college in PA. I have nice memories of visiting Rigby Yard in South Portland with my Dad, and seeing all the yellow Maine Central and blue Boston & Maine diesels. I guess most of my fleet counts as "Maine trains," except for some New Haven and NYC.

The layout pics are from my old house, the engines on display are on shelves I just installed in our current place. I'm plugging away on my new layout now, which is much easier now that my engines aren't all over the table.

I'm not sure about the gears. I gave it a good servicing when I bought it and except for a cranky e-unit it runs OK. Only one pick up roller though which is an easy fix when I get around to it. A Dallee reverse unit will go in it one day too.

The  loco is a Williams (red box - limited edition) MEC GP 9. The postwar Lionel  40 footers are my favorite!

The only Maine item  I have is a Weaver forty-foot State of Maine boxcar with New Haven reporting marks.

MELGAR - Great thread!  You are the king of NE roads!!  Great posts by others here too!!Unfortunately I only have four pieces of rolling stock representing New England railroads and this one shown here is a BAR State of Maine boxcar with a shipment of potatoes being unloaded.

Wow... Maine Central had some great looking equipment!!! I’m feeling the beginnings of an urge... youz guyz are a bad influence (but you knew that!!!).

I had picked up some Weaver 57-foot mechanical reefers a few years back. I have one Maine Central. Here's an image from the Weaver site -- mine isn't weathered and I converted it to 2-rail.

as some of you may be aware , the long overdue project of painting my brass W&R phase 1-C   44 tonner in MEC #11 green livery is next. I have two sets of custom made decals plus a commercial set. Now all I need is nerves of steel,  steady eye- hand coordination, and the hang of this thing called an airbrush! Lol.
that will complete all the Maine Central equipment I think I will run in my future.
Holy smokes! I am going to need a ton of trees! I will make them too, great examples all around me!

Mel, I like MEC 501 much , looks particularly awesome on your New England layout.
