I know I can glue figures on bases with white glue to layout, but if I want to remove them, alot of times the underlying latex paint pulls off from the foam or other material.

I was thinking spirit gum like used for theater makeup might work, as you can put on mustaches etc and easily remove later.

Any other ideas to keep figures upright and yet re positionable?

Two things I use, Rubber Cement, which can easily be cleaned off figures and the area they are glued to by just gently rolling/peeling residue off. Also very small piece of thin clear plastic such as found in many packaging from items we purchase for our layout. A small 1/4" or smaller for figures and items like motorcycles works great.

Detail Tack, from Micro-Mark, item 84774...

....will also work.

Another product by Deluxe Materials is Tacky Wax...

Deluxe Materials is a UK company, but their MANY innovative products for hobbyists....including model railroaders!...are available in the states through  several distributors, such as Horizon and Walthers.

FWIW, always...

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions and leads. Didn't know that this topic would generate so many leads!  I am on the hunt for this stuff at Micheals and Hobbylobby as our local hobby store is defunct.

Helping each other is what this forum is all about - along with some b*tching and whining on occasion.

Hi All

Rman

I'm still working on my One Gauge layout and came up with the same problem your discussing. Due to the fact I have several hundred figures and accessories that I will be using out side to enhance scenery and buildings so it's important to me they stay where I put them.

I have used numerous adhesives like the examples that are already posted for my inside layout and there good.

Recently I experimented with a different product that has really impressed me . I obtained it from Michael's. Called Glue Lines and Glue Dots. Both inexpensive and may surprise you with the adhesive ability.

I'm going to use it outside. You can cut the little circles or strips however you want to use them for getting a piece small enough for people ect.

It really STICKS but comes off easy in the event you want to remove it.

Here are pictures.

SEE this little guy in the last two pictures.  I placed him on the flat rock over a month ago. Even after VERY heavy rains and storms he's still standing and secure.
