I can not help with a manual, but it is fairly easy to wire. Note that the switch relies on a common ground to operate and the solenoid does not "cut off" after a direction is established.

One Fahnestock clip is for curved direction, the other Fahnestock clip is for straight. If set to "2 train", the switch removes power from the non-selected track spur (unless it is fed another way such as a lock-on). The two lantern bulbs operate off of track voltage, one lamp indicates each direction.

For simplicity, let us say you are using the ZW. One wire would go from U to the track, with either A or D operating the track (and the lantern bulbs) in the usual manner. Either a SPDT (or two SPST) momentary switch(es) route power to the appropriate clip with power from B or C.

If you want to use the Lionel controller it needs to be "backfed"- a wire from B or C to the outer wire (originally with lug) on 1122 controller or middle wire on O22 controller (note that the lamps would not work). Note that this is essentially how the original controller works.
