Meet My Wife, Train Room Pam as she rides the rails in Pune India

https://youtu.be/RABpjirFCAk

Train Room Pam and my daughter spent two week in Pune, India. She arrived home and she brought me some rail-fanning videos. She flew nonstop from Chicago to Delhi on Air India. The flight was about 14 hours and then 2 more hours to Pune. This is the only western airliner that is allowed to fly over Russia. The flight took off from Chicago and flew north to the North Pole and then over Russia to India. Come join Train Room Pam as she travels by rail. Notice how each passenger car is filled.

Hang onto your railroad hat: Play time: 2 minutes.

Hope to see you out rail-fanning. Gary 🚂

Hi Guys: Thanks for checking out this video. This two minute video was shot in the vertical position mode. I ask Pam to shoot everything in the horizontal mode, but that did not happen. She was using a camera phone.

I used Final Cut Pro to turn a vertical video into a horizontal video. I used a plug in called, Transform to Horizontal. Some cropping does take place but it is still full HD.

Below is a short sample of what I was editing.

Hope to see you out rail-fanning. Gary 🚂

B India

I was born and grew up in India and lived there for 23 years before moving to the US in 2001.

I also grew up jumping in and out of moving trains and buses and it didn’t seem unusual since others around me were doing the same. The technique was to lean far back while jumping. When your outboard foot hit the ground, the momentum would force the upper part of the body into a more vertical stance and you ran a few feet and stopped.

My most reckless attempt was jumping out of an express train even before it got to the station, wearing flip-flops and an ethnic men’s outfit that resembled a skirt. The flip-flops ripped off my feet as soon as I landed on the ballast and I had to limp the rest of way, bare feet, on hot, ballast that I didn’t realize had pointy edges.

These are just my opinion,

Naveen Rajan
