Menards "Denver Diecast" Collection Contractors Van.

This model #279-3084 is actually a nicely detailed model of a typical contractors van.  The body of the van is diecast metal. The model is 4 inches in length. The package does not identify the scale.

Note: This model is among a variety of available similar scale vehicles priced at $2.99 each.  The package indicates 40 different vehicles in all in the series.

These models look like the same ones offered in the 24 car Super set advertised on the Menards website. These are "O gauge trains stuff" on the Menards website. They can be purchased on-line.

With that said. Their more like for HO Layouts then. But They still look nice.

Then no response is required.

Thanks,  John

Yea, what I found was mostly 1:64 - hot wheels sized items - though they had some of the Menards semi trailers.  1:64 would be like S scale... Too big for HO, too small for O

I bought one of these vans when they first came out. It is not even close to 1:43. I agree with Chugman and Jacobpaul81, this is more like 1:64 scale. It measures 4" long, 1.5" wide and 1 3/8" high. The real life Chevy 1500 econoline is 18' 8" long (according to GM's website) versus this toy which measures to 16' long. The prototype is 6' 10" ground to roof versus 5' 6" high on this model.

Here are some photos to show you how it appears next to 1:43 scale vehicles from various model companies including First Response.

Good Morning!

I hope I can shed some light on our Denver Die Cast Offerings. There are two distinct categories of Denver Die Cast.

1. Smaller cars (Matchbox type size) are usually located in our toy aisle. These are not available online.

2. Larger cars (O Gauge) are usually located in the main aisle between hardware and seasonal. These are available in 16, 16, 20 and 24 packs online. The majority of these are true 1:48 scale (as mentioned on other forum posts) but there are some that are visibly smaller or larger.

I hope this helps!

So I guess let the Customers decide then.  I like the Trucks but there nowhere
I here can purchase any from New Jersey. There no Stores here that carry them.

Thanks,John

These can be purchased on line from Menards using a credit card for delivery to your home.

NYC Subway...let me know if I can help...there are plenty of Menards here in Indy...however...that piece is small...I do not use them on my Layout because of their size...that van is advertised as a 1:50 on the red Menards piece...way smaller than I like.  Let me know if you want me to grab one. (or more)  The only one I use on my layout from this set is a gator 4x4...I like the way it looks in my barn setting

As you can see by this comparison, Big Al’s van is much larger than this 1:87 HO scale pickup from Mini Metals. I would also like to point out that this 1:87 HO model sells for $17.95 on the Walthers website where as our Denver Die Cast sells for $2.44 on menards.com as part of a super set (sold individually in stores at $2.99). Plus, you can get an additional 11% rebate this week (ends 10/31/15)!

At that price, we feel Big Al’s van is a pretty cool model for the money and is sized appropriately for use with most O27 gauge equipment. Most importantly, it represents an exceptional value.

Thank you,

This is all well and good, but why not be upfront about the scale?  The "menards" version of this says 1:50 on the package, but you advertise it as 1:48.
