Menards Mail-In Rebates

The rebates are mailed in the form of a "postcard". They do have your mailing address on one side but the rebate doesn't say anything about not being transferable. I'll take em if you are giving them away!

I believe Mark at Menard's has specifically said that they are transferable.

When you use the rebates in the store, the Menard's folks check you driver license against the rebate postcard.  If they don't match, they will not honor your rebare postcard.....so they are NOT transferable.

I have done them in another name and sent to that person and he has had no problem so far. It may be the store.

This is not true !!! I have used many rebates  from fellow OGR Forum members sent to me.All you need to do is sign the original  name on the rebate. Bob

While not a fan of the in store only deal, Mark has said many times that they are transferable and virtually good forever! Which at my age means less and less!LOL I think Bill is right, it may just be that store that didn't get the memo!!

I'm sorry but I have not bought a Menards  products since they started this store rebate nonsense, or at lest when I became aware of it . I find is annoying and a little insulting.

Of course if they open a store in my area all will be forgiving.

I have to admit and have on this forum that I too find it annoying! That being said I love the products backed up by terrific customer service! Nothing is perfect! OK, I forgot about my Dear wife! LOL

I have used the Menards rebate multiple times in my local Menards.  They treat it like cash and never ask for any identification

When l used the rebate l had from their last 11 percent rebate sale the clerk asked to see my drivers license.  She told me that this was the new policy since there was an issue with fraud.

So what happens when you move and have an address change?

Our Menard's doesn't ask for ID, and never has. The clerk I spoke with said they don't care who uses the rebates or if even if they get used.

Just give whomever a copy of your rebate receipt and he can get the rebate form from Menards and send it in himself. No need to worry about the wrong name on the rebate postcard. Problem solved. I was at Menards in Eau Claire Wi. last night and that's all you have to do as their is no name on the rebate receipt.

I hope Mark or somebody from Menard's is reading all this. Hopefully, they address this problem both here and in there stores. Hopefully, they get everyone on the same page.

Their missile flat car is boldly priced at $19.99.  Seams like a pretty deal - ALMOST.  That $2.20 mail-in rebate can't be applied towards another on-line purchase.  ADD $2.20.  There's a $2.80 processing fee.  ADD another $2.80.  Their shipping is $6.23 to Baltimore.  ADD another $6.23.  In the end that $19.99 car is actually costing me $31.22.  That's a deal killer for me.  Sorry Menards.

My friend sends them in with my name and address. When we reach $20.00 worth I will send him a check for $10.00. We both win.

OH the reason being, The other box stores are closer. He does not live close to a Menards and only goes if he has a special need.

First off you don't add $2.20 as your quoting the everyday price of $19.97. Second ( and this is what your total would be as you have the same charges I do.) where can you buy a new car for $29.47.  Third if you take there processing fee and add it to their shipping cost you come up with $9.48. Most items on ebay your shipping is going to be that or more. Most hobby shops there shipping is going to be that or more. I went to ebay and the shipping was from ( and only saw one this way) $9.75 to $12.85 most where $9.95. Actually Menards is just showing you how the shipping and handling breaks down where others just add the two together and call it shipping and handling. 

I think you may want to rethink your math and also the ones on ebay have inflated prices to boot.

Bottom line is that the $19.99 car cost me $31.22 no matter how you do the math.  Sell me the car for $19.99 plus the $6.23 for shipping and Menards gets my business.   Their mail-in rebate is offered to get you in the store which is of no value to me living out of the area and the processing fee..........they're charging me to do business with them.  In addition, Menards should provide free shipping for purchases over $50.00.

No bottom line the car cost you $29.47 if you order the car right now it will come out at $29.47 not $31.22. you keep wanting to add the $2.20 rebate to the cost. So if Menards would just say would just say $9.48 as shipping you would be fine, as said, most companies list it as shipping and handling ( ie handling is usually the cost of the box and packing to ship it to you. ) So you go buy them $50 - $90 car with $10 shipping and you're fine with it. And by the way the rebate is over so it's still going to cost you $29.47. 

Tell you what you show me a new compatible car for less. You will not find it new 

You can do like I do if there is a item I want and there doing the rebate I just fill it out to a friend and send it to a him and after a while he sends me a check for 1/2 of it. we both make out. 

Wild Mary, I feel the same way about your last comment BUT, like someone else said, where you gonna get a new car for $31.00 anyway.  That's still a good price.  And, by the way, I have several of these rebates that I can't use.  No stores in the Pittsburgh, PA area.  If I ever get enough rebates maybe I'll make a run to Ohio and use 'em.

Mixed bag with Menards here.  We travel to KS extensively and we usually shop at the Salina Menards. One time we bought $500-600 worth of kitchen cabinet add-ons and there was no rebate. 2 days later they announced the 11% rebate.  I stopped at the store on the way home to TX and asked if there was anything they could do.  Seems that they have a *special* rebate submittal if you purchased in the prior week. Sent it in, got my rebate check, so I'm happy.

The other time, we did a special order for cabinets. First special order with them. When advised they were in, they told me to drive the car around back to pick up the goods. Well, they loaded the stuff, but said that officially I was supposed to stop at the service desk first. I pulled around to the front and went in. The counter attendant must have been having a bad day and had evidently chewed-out the guys in the back for violating protocol. Since I had already paid for the items at the time of order, they asked to see my CC. I figure that meant literally, just to make sure I had the card with which the order was placed. They literally snapped it out of my hand and gave a dirty look. They then just matched the card to the receipt and allowed me to leave. Left a very foul taste, but we still use 'em. Everyone else has been great, so I'll just chalk it up to someone having a bad day.  We all have 'em once in awhile, right?

you will need t give the rebate portion of receipt to the person and have them mail it in.....  I will accept any rebate portions of the receipt to be used by my local train club or train museum

The regular price of the car is $19.99. If you got and used the rebate on something in a Menards store, the car would cost you $17.79, in effect, after the 11 percent rebate check.

So, in your scenario without a rebate, it would cost you $19.99 + $2.80 + $6.23, or $29.02.

Mail order sales always carry a shipping charge, so unless you are somehow unaware of that fact or you never order trains for postal delivery, I'm not sure of your point.

It's a mute point now since the mail-in rebates are no longer available.  In the future it's best if Menards eliminated the rebates for on line purchases.

No, I was saying "forget the rebate" and his cost would be $29.02. I don't know how much simpler we can state it. Period. This week, there is no 11 percent rebate. His cost would be $29.02.

This post has been beat to death. Just ordered army flat with gun , army flat  free. Both cars shipped for about 30$. 15$ each. These are for two 3 year old grandsons layouts with fast hands. Can't beat Menards for basic train cars. I have received the rebates befor , mailed to a grandson in college in Ohio. He used them and brought the items when he visited. No problem at all.
