Menards new Product Announcement !!

It looks like Menards has picked up the tooling for a model line that I think MTH had for some time.

In fact, the MTH line was also quite familiar to me, because it was identical (except in size, of course) to the line of N scale model houses that Model Power sold in the 1980s. I have several of those.

Note that the buildings use some of the same components with varied details to represent different structures. Nice design overall.

I assume these are indeed plastic and not MDF.

Jim: These are molded plastic with no interior lighting and no base. there is window lining in all windows. Hope this helps.. Bob

It's good to see Menards branching out to other types of buildings. However I would have expected a lower price point for these new plastic, unlighted buildings that lack people or landscaping. This newer Menard's building retails for ~$80.00:

O Gauge Duplex Buildingwith a 14 X 9.75 footprint.

as does this new Model Power Building:

O Scale Model Power Little Red School House with a 12.5 X 8 inch footprint.

You get lots more bang for your buck with the Menards building...lights, landscaping, people etc.

I'm not complaining as having more choices is a good thing.  I just  think that the price point on the Model Power buildings would have been way less. I searched  to see if they were still available from other vendors and they are. I'm a big supporter of the Menard's brand of buildings and will continue to purchase any that fit my layout theme.
