Day two starting in 3.5 hours. Yesterday's show was huge.  The line to get in was over a block long! If your at the show, remember, the 11% rebate is still on for today. For everyone else, the 11% starts Monday, and the new products will be on-line Tuesday. All the new products ran continuously  for 8.5 hours with NO  problems whatsoever. I'll be posting a few more pictures today when time allows. Thanks for looking... Bob

For those who could not make the show it was a great show. Lots of train layouts, venders and of course the Menards display. The gondolas are nice, along with the nose art box cars, flat cars with new loads plus the UFO. Looking down the road through my cyrstal ball (which is slightly cracked) 2019 looks to be a very interesting year starting with the release of the parking garage. The prototype was on display. Congrats to Mark, his crew and of course Cabinet Bob. You all did an outstanding job.....Paul

What scale is the Pepsi truck?  I was disappointed when the buses on the flatcars turned out to be too small, closer to1:64.

What was in the white box?

I will try to get a measurement  for you this morning. If you can, please zoom in on the truck and see the fine detail of the Pepsi bottles.

It measures 3 5/8 long

Who has seen a real UFO ?  Let's keep o-gauge realistic.

In 1952 I saw 5 of them flying in formation. I don't remember seeing anything printed on them.

Yes, I have seen a UFO, which means "unidentified flying object", just to state the obvious. It was unidentified, flying and an object, seen by me and about a dozen other sober and nominally intelligent persons in the 1970's in Mobile, at night over a thickly-populated area of town.

Now, as it finally turned and the wind shifted so the sound could be heard better, and what it was carrying could be seen better, it was "identified" and turned out to be a helicopter. It was carrying a large, flashing lighted display advertising some new something or other; when viewed from an oblique angle (you couldn't see the chopper - it was nighttime, and the running lights got lost in the sign's light), the display could not be read - the graphics were moving - appeared to be..."otherworldly and unknown", as in propulsion device. I have to admit that a scientific-bent skeptic like me was as baffled as anyone for a few minutes, and a little spooked.

Don't want one on my layout, though. Beyond the Pale.

Not interested.

When O gauge gets realistic, I'm leaving.  I'm in it for the fun and fantasy.   I have an oversized gateman on my layout and oversized crossing gates with undersized Alco FA's.  My world.

Now the real problem is which great "garage scene" do I model in there - Seinfeld (lost with portable AC), Steve McQueen The Hunter or The Americans?

All of them, I plan to have all of my favorite movies on the layout, Paul Newman cutting the heads off parking meters for Cool Hand Luke, Slimer getting caught by the Ghostbusters, Marty McFly tooling around in the Delorean, I’ll buy the UFO and somehow incorporate into an Independence Day vignette.

would you say this UFO is to scale ?

After 8 hours and looking at past records, I am 100 % this to scale. If you don't believe me too bad....LOL

A scale UFO? What the heck!?
This isn't two rail... sheesh.
Rivet Counters be gone!

Actually, if I get that UFO, I'm removing the canopy and putting Marvin inside. WITH a Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator.

Since the parking ramp is pre-production, can the also produce some matching 1:43rd scale corkscrew ramps for  it let automobiles roll down from the top.

Andrew

Fisher-Price could do it...with an operating elevator & turntable to boot!

He'll yeah.....spent jours upon hours with that garage.....thanks for the memory!

Back from the Menards train show. It was a great show. I took some pics. I myself liked the way the shopw was laid out. The operating layouts were scattered through the convention area with venders and private sellers mix between them. Nice not to have all the layouts in one area. The Menards display stood out. I tried to get the size of the show into the pics................Paul

Just ordered the Pepsi and REA trucks that will be removed from flatcars for placement at layout stores.  Great addition and fits the modeling era.

Also emailed Menards asking if they can add Pay Pal as payment option.  I personally get nervous typing my card number into a "HTTPS secure sites" (so why am I on my 4th card and getting calls from my bank asking if I ordered a Mercedes from Germany?).

CABINET BOB,  By using the picture of the Menards guys, could you please put some names with these fellows. Thank you.

I'd  rather not.

What is the difference?   We can see from the name tag that Mark was the guy with glasses on the right.  As for any other names, they would be pretty much irrelevant as we have had no exposure to anyone other than Mark.  It was interesting that at least two people here asked if the obviously very young teen-aged boy in the middle was Mark!?
