On the fence but leaning towards...yes.

Question: Does this accessory require a Menard's power supply? Or does it have those standard design clips like many other accessories so you can just tap into accessory power on the layout?

I know this is brand new but wondering if anyone knows the answer.

It needs the Menards power supply it plugs into the building.

Got it. Thanks, Chris.

After looking at bobs saucer I don't see the film edge of the lettering to make me believe it is a decal.

Guess I will wait for mine to arrive to make sure. The lettering may be harder to remove then I thought.

Dave

Bob already said it isn’t a decal. It’s pad printed. The process of removing the lettering will be no different than the options listed in numerous threads on this forum for removing letters and numbers from various types of locomotives and rolling stock.

For example, here’s a thread from the last week alone:

I like it but it's too new for the  1950's era I model...cow abductions didn't start till the 1970's

about the time Mc Donald's popularity  really took off....I wonder if there is a connection to the two events???

Trust me, way before 1970's.  Don't ask me how I know because the aliens told me so!

Actually,  alleged cow "mutilations" were reported. The alleged "abductions" were of humans. Second, people did not report "unusual events" until they knew, through the media, that others were doing so, so this stuff may have been taking place for decades or centuries, and went unreported, for fear of ridicule, etc.  (The movie "Cowboys &  Aliens" was based on 19th Century reports of strange events on the open range, that may or may not have involved lonely cowboys imaginations' , amplified by some " hootch.")

Given that, I wouldn't be too concerned about the time period modeled; this is a novel, whimsical accessory that will gain a lot of notice on any layout.

I received 4 of these UFOs that I was going to give as Christmas Gifts and I was disappointed. The first one out of the box had a smudged UFO lens and two broken trees. The second one out of the box had Chinese writing and tape stuck to the top of the UFO that would not remove without damaging the unit. The third unit had two broken cows and 1 broken tree. The forth unit had a fogged lens on top and another broken cow. I guess I just had a streak of bad luck. I contacted their Customer Service Via E-mail and hope to get some fresh units without the problems. I have to say that I never had any other issues with their products unit now.

Best Regards

Ok that’s cool!

Planning a trip on Route 66 next year. A detour to a Menards is already on the itinerary. Ship to store sounds like a plan.

Definitely plan on a couple of buildings and a UFO heading back with us to the U.K.

Nick

I wouldn’t wait too long. Something tells me this one might sell out!

You might be right, though Menards has restocked in the past when items have sold out quickly. So Menards might get another run.

From talking to Mark at the Eau Claire show in July, I initially got the impression these would be in stores in October when Menards brings its seasonal stock in. But I suppose that could change if sales are stronger than expected now. I actually thought these wouldn’t be released until October, which would fit the original fall release verbiage in the advance promotion.

Anyway, you got me thinking ...

Hopefully, they'll resolve to your satisfaction all the problems you've incurred, Pat.

Btw, since quite a few folks here find the printing on these ufo's objectionable and not to their liking, does it look like that printing can be easily removed without leaving noticeable traces on the ufo?

I received an E-mail about the UFOs and I sent pictures and have not got any response and 3 days later still waiting

on what to do with these defective units. I tried to find a customer service phone number and can not find one on their site. I hope one of Menards people will see this post.

Thanks

Pat
