I'm thinking about finally weathering rolling stock but need an example I can set on the bench to go by. Since I really don't want to pay the high dollars they sell for on auction sites I was wondering if one of Menards already weathered would be a good example for me to start with. Yes or no would probably suffice for an answer so this doesn't get deleted.

thanks

Joe

There are books and DVDs that describe weathering techniques. I also build models, armor and the like and I weather them. The best thing is to look at some of the DVDs and watch what techniques produce what effects and then get some good (as possible) photos of weathered cars/locos or in my case tanks. I find that weathering is oftentimes overdone, a light hand is better.

I do have a few books on weathering but no step by step DVD's. I've weathered a lot of buildings and would say I'm really heavy handed especially with the ink washes. I guess that's why I haven't attempted any rolling stock. I think I'll go ahead and order from Menards and see what I think.

Thanks

Joe
