Good Wednesday to everyone!  I am starting the thread early, because I am expecting a busy day at work.  Let's get right to the Midweek Photos.

This past weekend, the Electric City Trolley Station & Museum in Scranton PA ran their trolley as part of Presidents Day Weekend.  They also played host to the live steam (mostly G gauge) event which has been going on for about 20 years now. Philadelphia Suburban Transportation car no 80 is heading toward the museum, passing the Brady yard of the former Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley Railway.

I was using three cameras this day, so I could get a combination of telephoto and regular shots.

Four trips ran that day.  The first two pics are of the 12 noon trip.  This is the same car crossing Cedar Ave in Scranton on the 1:30 trip. The bridge in the background is part of the Steamtown yard.

Here is the car on the return.  The trip runs about 5 miles to Moosic, PA where the restoration shop is.  The Triple A baseball field field is nearby.  In this location, the trolley poles are not as much of a distraction, since  they are on the opposite side of the track.

A tight curve lies ahead.  This is new track laid for the trolley operation.  It also travels over some DL&W tracks, L&WV tracks, an Erie Lackawanna connection, and Erie heritage tracks.

Toodle-oo!  The car rounds the bend to head back to Scranton.  On the route is a 4,747 foot long tunnel. It is quite the ride.

That is my contribution for the week.  What have you tracked down recently?  If it is on rails, we like to see it.  Post your contributions here.  Talk to you soon.

On Saturday the 9th, Scranton Transit #505 was moved from the ECTM shop at PNC Field to the Stourbridge Railroad facility in Honesdale, PA.  Stourbridge has experience restoring heavyweight passenger cars and can handle many specialized repairs that the 505 will require, such as hot riveting and woodwork.

Around 9 am, Road Scholar Transport of Dunmore arrived with a drop deck trailer to begin loading.  Blocking was positioned under the bolsters and the shell was secured to the trailer.

Leaving the shop, Car #505 passes by Scranton Railway #324, the only other known surviving Scranton passenger car.  Car #324 is nearing completion but still needs some more work before she can move under her own power.

On arriving in Honesdale, the Stourbridge crew secured slings to the bolsters and used a lift at each end to suspend the body enough to clear the trailer.

With the trailer out of the way, one end was lowered and secured to a bogie cart.

The other lift was repositioned, and the car body was very carefully guided into the shop.

A smooth operation thanks to the crews at ECTM, Stourbridge, and Road Scholar Transport.  It has taken the 505 Group most of a year to put this move together, but we are very happy to have found an experienced shop so close to home.  As an added bonus, any funds that we spend during this phase also help a neighboring preservation rail line.  For more information please contact Trolley505@yahoo.com
