A couple updated photos of the Missouri River Eagle. I got to ride it when I was much younger. The E7 is from Seacrest and it has an improved drive with a gear reduction head. Looks like a Snow or protocraft type drive? Very smooth and now with ESU loksound and tang band speaker. Cars are Oriental RPO/baggage, coaches MAC Shops, Atlas dome, DesPlains diner, Wolfer observation. Wolfer cars are just punched out windows. Lots of Archer rivets as Erik stated. DesPlains diner is an etched wraper. A real challenge to assemble with wood forms and torches. Basdens work is phenomenal as seen at OSW.   jeffersonP1220057P1220058

I’ve so enjoyed this rejuvenated thread. Beautiful work and Models. And Obviously MP fans - and I recognize some commenters.  So..... I ask others to check out Newer thread “GGD Missouri Pacific EAGLES .......” and please contribute. I try to build support to do a “Golden Gate Depot” EAGLE passenger set run. I’ve done considerable research (but Still don’t claim to be expert) to submit (Soon) consists to Scott. He seems interested. This looks to be a opportunity to get a great MP or TP consist that hasn’t been offered before. And expert guidance appreciated !!!!!
Cheers

Please revisit the “Golden Gate Missouri Pacific EAGLES” thread in the traditional trains section as it’s pretty up to date. It was placed there I thought it gets the most exposure.
The offering is for the Texas Eagle. There are TWO 8 car consists offered - one each for Missouri Pacific And Texas & Pacific. Each set will have unique named cars and/or numbers. Many extra cars are offered and these will Also be unique. Also offered are thru sleepers for Penn, B&O, and NDM. Only NDM will have different paint. The observation car has been made optional as it’s not prototypical. (Everyone loves an observation car)  A prototypical 14-4 sleeper can be substituted. I suspect most will take the observation car and add a 14-4.
Great effort has been taken to make the offering as prototypical as possible. It’s going to be Really Cool !!!!
Reservations are still open - but it’s time to get off the fence ……….    😉

Cheers !!!!

Do my eyes trick me due to lighting differences and angles but are the roofs and car ends a slightly darker grey than the “Eagle grey” that’s on the sides of the cars ????  Sometimes it looks different then sometimes same. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔. It’s the same when looking at real car photos. Opinions please - a reference even better. Thanks !!!

Hi Bub, Fred Hill did these cars right, there is definitely 2 different grays, a cool gray on the roof and the Eagle gray on the ends and sides. Good question! -and thanks for bringing up things like this; I’m sure the Sunset cars are still in development long before final paint schematics are reviewed. It would be good to get as much technical data in public view. I might take some time and put together a research packet for Sunset on these models it shouldn’t be hard to get right with so much reference available. I only hope they ask before jumping the gun and miss stuff. Sunset has done a great job of recent and I expect these cars will be as good as they get.

Eagle fans. The GGD Texas Eagle is on the threshold of going into production. “Design is complete”. See some car images on the GGD Webpage. Zoom in to check out the Rivets !!! Each line Properly Placed on Each Car !!! The lineup of cars is finalized. (Lists on GGD Website). MP and T&P consists. All unique car names and/or numbers. Lots of Extra cars with up to 4 different per car (if prototypical). Two different coaches. Two different 10-6 sleepers. To get one of each car type, thru sleeper, and an observation car, you will need to reserve an 8 car set and 7 other cars.
This is truly GGD/Scotts most ambitious offering.
Fence sitter Warning !!! Reservations Will Be Closing Soon!!!  Last Chance - Check out the posted final lists and refine those reservations.
Cheers !!!! 😜

If I recall Jefferson also used a line of brass etched side kits of the MoP porthole cars by Bill Wolfer. Also Bill Basden also has been building an Eagle, his PS Planetarium car build is incredible.

Erik thak you for your comments on the Dome car. It took 17 pieces silver soldered together  to make the Dome section. Bill
