Not familiar with engraved brass parts, only engravings on jewelry. Does that mean the details are "machined" into flat or cast brass pieces?   These kits must have been the cats meow when they were 1st offered.

I'm afraid my question was overlooked in the rapid fire communications about values and builds in this thread, so I'll re-post it here in case anyone knows. I'm familiar with cast, coined and etched brass parts, but what are engraved parts? Sounds labor intensive and expensive, but.............................?

I think it's a pretty safe bet that the "detail" is cut into the parts by machine. To do it like is done with jewelry and trophies would be cost prohibitive.

The car looks decent, but (opinion) it's not that special. Doesn't have as much detail as a PSC or Pacific Limited.

There were pictures of an assembled car in the one listing - underbody was very sparse and next to nothing in the way of framing, brake rigging, etc.

Ok, some have zero cares about the underbody and brake details...so maybe this is the car for those folks!

Engraved is a little like machining, only on a very small scale, and usually (these days) done with a computer controlling the cutter.  No, I am not an expert.  Check with your local trophy maker.

Here is one of my Model Graphic cars - the Menasha Woodenware car:

Dietrich MenashaThanks for the picture.  Looks great!

I presume the cars are "photoengraved" or etched brass.

Mine is buried right now so I can't dig it out but it seemed that it was photo engraved etching and that would go with the "model graphics" name.

Oh and my SOO line car has full underbody detail.  I bought it built up so I don't know if was added by whomever assembled the car.   Perhaps someone else who actually owns a kit and has the instructions will be able to chime in as to what is included in the original kit.

And mine doesn't have a retainer line or retainer valve which is one thing I will have to add someday.
