Hello all

One of the huge benefits of attending Milwaukee Trainfest ...is visiting "The Model Railroad Club of Milwaukee"   215E National  Ave , Milwaukee ...located within the trestle embankment formerly the  Allis station  .... opened in 1936 .  Feel the trains rumble around the layout and overhead .     The Model Railroad Club of Milwaukee  had a both at Trainfest .... offering all to attend there step back in time huge O scale layout  ....  the place should have been packed if 1% of Trainfest took them up on their kind offer ...   The Model Railroad Club of Milwaukee is a real charm and look at a huge period O scale layout ... running Old School ... no staring at little hand held digital pieces of plastic to make a train run ... real live throttle and switcher from block to block, lights and meters the works  perched up high looking down at the empire as the train winds from town to town .   Running last night was the cover shot engine from MR back in 1938 ....still pulling revenue service.   Members , father and son , John and Tony were incredibly kind  to give the Cooks tour of the RR .

If you are ever even remotely close to Milwaukee you owe it to yourself to see the legendary Model Club of Milwaukee " ....... if you live close  join the club  great group of folks   and a wonderful opportunity to support one of the pillars of O scale history .

For more information about the club and it's history please read  at All Scales  magazine

I was sorry that I couldn't get over to the Club Saturday night. Others in my party wanted to discuss other projects, and we never got over there. Otherwise I visit them every TRAINFEST that they are open for visitors.  This is a very old Club, very interesting history, and because of this Club, the NMRA came to be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also purchased their old roundhouse and turntable way back in 1970, and a few years ago, was finally able to install it on my layout that I am building. This structure was built before 1940, and was all outside 3rd rail. I will attach two pictures. Past and present. A great old Club with a really great group of guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Roundhouse at Milwaukee O Scale ClubRoundhouse and JeffLayout serviceing area

Wow that is one big roundhouse .... judging from the number of engines and the full house ..you may have to add a second floor and an elevator .

Thank you for posting the vintage layout photo ..do you have any other vintage photos of the layout to share ?

Cheers Carey

Here is the MR cover shot and the club engine being run in the videos... they built them to run a very long time back then ....
