Modifications to the Lionel 6-17216 PRR Double Door Boxcar.

Produced by Lionel in 1991. This Lionel model is a very basic O scale boxcar that represents a 51 foot outside rib double door boxcar without roofwalk. Overall length of the model is 12-3/4 inches. The model includes an all plastic body and underframe with Lionel sprung diecast Bettendorf style trucks mounted on 9-1/2 inch truck centers. The Lionel lettering that is applied to the model represents a different PRR boxcar.

This model can be improved by replacing the Lionel trucks with MTH roller bearing style trucks which are mounted on 10-3/4 inch truck centers. As shown the interior (floor) has been also painted.

A photo of a similar prototype rib side boxcar is also shown.

Now if someone can tell me how to correct the ends to look like a prr x58 boxcar, I am all in!
