Motor of the Week - Week 9 - Please help identify!

Looks like Marx to me.

I've always called it a Marx one way motor. Only forward. Used in Marx's inexpensive engines. From the tin 591 steam engine from the mid-sixties.

Marx motor, not set up for siderods but has spoked wheels.  Not a diesel motor, as there's no mounting bracket.   My guess is that it's for an articulated passenger train or low end steam engine with full skirting.

The biggest clue is the lack of wheel's hole to connect siderods. The 591 was rodless.

I think I've read the diesel switchers used these too, though most were not spoked wheels. The small diesels (or steam I haven't seen naked yet) had a different frame, though kinda similar, it had an upward vertical extention and lip (an inverted L ) to fasten it from above by screw.

I think the rodless Mercury used the same frame as the Commadore Vanderbilt, more squared, & a tad longer. I don't have a clue on other rodless engines.

Adriatic got it right. Used in the low end 591 type locomotives, but the 591 also came with many types of motors. Also used in some of the 70 ton diesel switchers.'

George was 100% right that it is a Marx motor, but did not identify it with specificity. Chuck I.D.'d it as a one way motor used on the 591. Adriatic added its use on diesel switchers. Mitch gave compelling analyses but stopped short of a specific ID. Steve confirmed Chuck's and Adriatic's statements.
