Thanks to Tinplate forum.

This item is on Ebay, link below, its a 9894 "Good Humor" reefer.  I do not believe this is a Lionel produced item.  If you have a Greenberg book handy please let me know if this car is listed as produced.  I think its an RGS (sp?) as they produced replicas of cars Lionel did not make back in the day. The selled says it was produced in 2000, a long timenafter the MPC era.  Thanks in advance.

I checked my MPC production log and the highest numbered 98XX refer I could locate is

9888, Great Bay and Western from 1983.

MPC also used the series 57xx, and 75xx and reefers, but no Good Humor car.

When LTI production started with the 1987 line, most reefers were given the series

195xx, but at least through 1993, no Good Humor car.

Yes, I had one of the "RGS Limited" Good Humor reefers.  The gentlemen selling them once told me that he's an artist, not a toy train manufacturer.  He uses Lionel 9800-series cars as his base, and repaints them.  In the beginning, he also used the MPC-era orange boxes that the cars originally came in, and just put a new label overtop the original Lionel label.  But now his cars come in their own blue box with an official "RGS Limited" logo.

Thanks for posting the link to "Frank's Roundhouse." I remember Frank very well, from when I lived in the Wilkes-Barre area 1978-1989. In fact, he supplied me with many of those white boxes to help pack my trains when I moved. He was a real gentleman and real Lionel expert. I have  B&O and C&NW "Frank's" boxcars in my current collection. They are very nice cars.

Does anyone know his current status?

Bill: Frank died in 2001.  His son Jack still has a big booth at York and occasionally brings some Frank’s Roundhouse cars to sell.
