It got me wondering what the MTH trucks are modeled after?

I just recently tried a heavy duty set (6 axle) on a GGD NYC 20th Century LTD car. It doesn't look right but it rolls well now. I'm caring less how stuff looks and more of how things work reliably. I left HO scale just for that reason.

I wonder what model of trucks these are modeled after? Really old?

I don't do plastic, but if I did, this would be as good as PSC.  I do have one, 2- railed.  Some of the Lionel stuff is quite good as well - I have 2-railed an exquisite FEF, have a 4-12-2 to maybe 2-rail, and replaced the trucks on a pair of PAs.  The PAs are as accurate as any I have seen, and the truck side frames are just fine for me.  Others need fully sprung; I opt for appearance.

I don't think these are the most detailed engines in real life, and I never really looked at them before I got them. Now, every time I go downstairs I look at them. Maybe there are better ones out there but these MTH engines look great to me. Don't tell me what's wrong with them as I'm happy!

I do have Lionel equipment that I am quite happy with as well. I can appreciate the higher detailed stuff that's out there. I think I will look at anything without trying to pre-judge stuff by it's maker's name.

I still desire to get one set of the Wasatch trucks just to see how good they are. They look great. My GGD 20th Century LTD trucks look good but I am not happy with how I converted (2 railed) them. I used pointed axles from GGD in place of blunt ended, and they don't roll as good as I had hoped. I knew better but did not wish to send them back. I didn't have the cash to buy more. My fault as they sat here for months before I tried them.

I slapped a set of MTH trucks in the last car I did and it rolled better and provided good electrical pick up.
