i recently upgraded an MTH PS Premier USRA Pacific made in 1994. It came with red LED class lights which I replaced with green ones. What I found interesting is the shape. Almost all later LEDs used for markers are the 2mm ceramic type. These are the more typical all plastic cylinders with rounded tops found on 3mm and larger LEDs. I have been trying to find this style ever since I started doing upgrades but all searches for 2mm LEDs return either the ceramic type or one with only a 2mm light pipe and much larger base which will not fit in a marker or class light.

I am guessing MTH used these in this engine as 2mm green LEDs may not have been available in 1994. Larger diameter green were availble I know.

Anyway, if anyone knows of a source for the non ceramic style let us know. They emit light out the sides much better than the ceramic style.

Pete
