MTH 2rail Engine short and TIU Blown!

There is at least one fuse inside the TIU (2 prong automotive type) that could have blown. You have to take the TIU apart to access it. I had the same thing happen to me a couple of times when I first started with DCS. I now have a fast acting circuit breaker installed between a Z1000 power brick and the TIU. I can’t find the instruction manual for it at the moment but I purchased it from Tony’s Train Exchange several years ago. It’s specifically designed for O scale and shuts things down immediately with any kind of short. I wish I could be more helpful but my electrical knowledge relating to DCS is pretty limited. That's great info!  I will take it apart and I hope it's the 20amp auto  fuses I saw in a video of an MTH TIU repair.

I will also look for the fast acting circuit breaker from Tony's.

Here’s the info on the circuit breaker board I got from Tony’s. Took me a few minutes to find it. Apparently in a fit of organizational madness I put it with my DCS, Legacy, and Digitrax manuals🤣

Edit: If you look for it at Tony’s it is made by DCC Specialties.

This may help, especially if you don't want to spend over $50 for each track output. Pardon my ignorance, but is there 2 rail AC?

I have a simple auto type 10 amp blade fuse inline right at all the TIU inputs. Very easy to change out and does a good job protecting stuff.

The TIUs also have a TVS diode for channel protection. That may also have fried on you.
