I have found a pair of these new for a very reasonable price and am seriously considering buying them. I have a pair of the same units but with Proto 1 which have been and are possibly going in for service/repair once again dependent upon what I can learn here about the Horn Only units.

My question is do the Horn Only units I'm thinking of purchasing have the battery/board issues that the Proto 1 units have? I really don't want to deal with those issues in the future. Since they're Horn Only, do these work similar to the older Williams units with the electronic reverse unit and horn? All my other motive power is postwar 1947-1952 with a couple of MPC units which I power through postwar ZWs. Can I continue to use my ZWs to power these MTH Horn Only units?

Horn only units have no battery. Yes, the ZW will work fine.
