What are the other routes or is this just a generic chatter?

The attached is list of all known (to me) MTH Amtrak sound files.

Please note:
- I label everything in this format: sound file name, Type of engine, passenger/freight and route name if present, PS2 or PS3, any additional notes
- Some files do not have the route labeled since I didn't put them through ADPCM to figure out what it is
- If it does not say PS2 5V or PS2 3V its a PS3 system. (PS3 files are named as they are shown in zipped format)
- When looking at sound file names, the first letter determines if its Railking (r), Premier (p), or HO (h)

Example:

r141_p_genesis_66_amt160105au4x-cnsmr - Genesis - passenger - The Lake Shore Limited (Train no. 48)

I wonder if sound cards can be interchanged..........

Yes they can! Luckily, the boards do not need to be changed, all you do is swap the sounds files out.
For PS3 diesel/electrics, they can either take a PS3 or PS2 3V sound file.
For PS3 steamers, they can take a PS3 or PS2 3V file (if the engine is a PS3 upgrade from PS1 or PS2, they can ONLY take a PS2 3V file)
The process is fairly straightforward: download the file, and upload it to the engine via your computer and TIU (if its a PS3 file, it must be unzipped). Eric Siegel has a YouTube video on how to do this

I personally have the following Amtrak engines with these sound files :
AEM-7 - The Minuteman (Train no. 175)
GG1- The Congressional (Train no. 185)
F59PH - The Pacific Surfliner (Train no. 769)
