Bearing in mind, I will want to creep along quietly atop a large TV wall unit (the viewing angle is such, I support the track on thick foam). Will MTH Bump and go trolleys and or other compannies trolleys negotiate the 21", or even better, the 16" diameters?

I ran a Christmas layout on the track this year with bump-n-go.  Used the smaller diameter track and the trolleys ran well (except for one reluctant lionel).  I had a bumper right against the wall. Immediately out of that end was a  90 degree curve, about 4 feet of straight, then a Y which went into 4' BY 2' loop around the "city park".

 

Seems that if you have a trolley with rollers instead of a pickup shoe, it would run a bit better. Powered it with an MRC Tech II transformer that I got off of Ebay for $8.00. Liked that because it had on on/off switch so I could just leave it plugged in all the time.

I have a bunch of MTH Bump and Go's.  They work well for almost any application, and have rollers as you have mentioned.

 

I bought one Lionel trolley.  It had sliding "shoes" and I had a tough time keeping it running.  On EZ streets with a shallow center rail, I think it would not work as well.

 

Atlas Industrial Rail trolleys also have rollers.  They're a bit longer, and are both Bump and Go AND have an E-unit.  Nice design.

The answers are so opposite, that I want to be sure. I don't doubt either of you, I've just bought enough "dang that's not gonna work" That I'd like to avoid it, if possible

My experience generally agrees with SilverLake’s.  As I’ve posted on here before, my MTH bump-and-go trolley runs fine on D-21 Superstreets curves but NOT on D-16 curves.  It will negotiate the D-16 curves but when entering the curves at a realistic speed it will stop completely unless the throttle is raised very high.  Then when coming out of the curves, the throttle has to be reduced again to maintain a realistic trolley speed on the straight.  So if you’re planning unattended operation of your trolley on D-16 curves, the MTH bump-and-go is not for you.

The transition pieces are a must unless you shave the curve to match the straights on the 5" or longer pieces.  my PCC's would mess all up because it was not smooth transition.  in lieu of buying a bunch of sections to transition every curve, I just dremeled the angle of the plastic to match the straights.  a lot cheaper.  I have no issue with PCC or Bump or go now at any turn.  I use DCS also an the signal has no issue traveling.
