Mth battery change help ( tinplate tender)

Should be four screws on the bottom to release the tender shell.

I tried that John, actually 6 screws, but the electronics and wire nuts are larger than the narrow opening at the bottom of the tender.  I got the shell up about 3/8” and kept hanging up on something.  That’s when I decided to start asking questions instead of forcing things.  I was hoping someone like yourself that may have had one of these open before might have a bit of experience to share.

Some of these that are the oil burners have the tender shell slide off toward the rear.

You have to remove the front cast plate off the tender, four screws on the bottom, then slide the shell off the back.  It usually hangs up on the wires & bracket, so proceed carefully.

Thanks Jon and John.  I didn’t know the front slide out of the shell.  That did the trick, although I am not convinced that speaker was ever plugged in!

I would check that speaker too, I believe there is a screw to release the pvb plastic.  I had that tender and the speaker was deteriorated.  I bet if you charged that battery it would still be good if that was a new old stock set.  If used set best to change.  G

This is a new-old stock set.  I will be ordering a battery today.  I have a couple of the other style but none of these.

"check the speaker" - how?  

Speaker looked good externally.  Got new battery charged, installed.

Did test lap and packed up til Fathers Day.😁
