I have a 1994 Challenger. I getting ready to upgrade with the new PS-3 Upgrade Kit. I've opened it up and removed the
Seuthe Smoke Units. I had previously ordered a Lionel smoke funnel only to find it too wide to span the challenger smoke openings.

The other problem is that the smoke unit I purchased looks like it will set too high due to the amount that the smoke holes are die cast into the boiler area.

I'm looking to see how others, if any have solved this issue. If you have part numbers please provide them.

See attached photos.

Regards,

Mike

You can grind them down, or you fill the area around with epoxy to get a better surface area.  As far as fit, what does chassis look like?  As Long as smoke fan solder points do not touch chassis you may have proper clearance.  IF the issue is seeing motor, slip heat shrink wrap around motor to color it black.  G

It is probably better to figure out how you are going to lock the smoke unit in place before you start cutting an modifying the smoke funnel you just bought.  If the one you bought doesn't work, buy one that does, or make one.   The fact that is too large is easier to get to work then one that is too small.  After rereading how can the funnel be too wide to span the stack bosses.  If it where too narrow that would not work.  How you fix the smoke unit in place comes first, then size the funnel or modify the shell to seal the funnel.   G
