Try a reset in conventional.  1 horn followed by 5 bells 1/2 second apart.  You must get a two whistle blasts, if successful.

When it’s running with no chuff, does it hunt?  Run a bit, then stop?  If so, the tach is not working properly.  Either the gap is inadequate, slipped out of the holder, a wire broke or the drawbar is not fully inserted.  Easy enough to pull the boiler shell and inspect.

Thanks Jon, I actually did do a factory reset and got the 2 horn blasts, and when it runs it is running pretty steady I do get the boiler sounds but no chuff and no smoke when moving

Sounds like a bad connection in the drawbar. I've had this happen intermittently around curves with some of these. Most of the time it was a problem with the 6 pin harness in the tender that goes from the drawbar to the tender board.

Ok so tried them both

changed the drawbar, checked all of the wiring reloaded the software no help still the same problem
