Re: MTH Part number?

I need a part number for a motor. I called one of the forum sponsors but he cannot find the part number because the MTH sites is down. Unfortunately, the online parts explosion for this model simply lists it as MOTOR – not much help.

The locomotive is a 20-5501-1. A protosound GG1 from 1997. The motor is an RS-385 PH. It has a bad bearing on the flywheel end. I have another RS-385 so I tried to remove the flywheel but only succeeded in bending my wheel puller. So, I am looking for the part number for the motor, complete with flywheel and worm gear. The flywheel measures 30mm Ø x 11mm. The worm is 8mm Ø x 19mm.

The flywheel isn't that hard to remove as a rule, it's the worm that's a bear to get off those! You'll have to match the worm, so it's likely that will have to come off. I'd suggest Frank Timko to get the worm and flywheel swapped to the new motor.
