Hello all,
I've got a quirky PS3 GG-1 electrical issue. This engine recently began showing signs of a short out of nowhere. I took the shell off and nothing seemed out of place. Disconnected the pantograph control and power wires, engine ran fine on the test bench without the shell on. Placed the shell back on, shorted and sparks. Shell off, back to running. Shell off, but wired the connections, running just fine.
I've managed to determine that the short and sparking seems to be at either end, but not in center of the engine. In addition, placing the shell on the engine, but not tightening the screws also seems to work. However, any immediate pressure on the shell seems to cause the short. Is there a possibility that springs inside the lighting connectors at either end of the engine are causing the short?
I'm stumped.
