Today I was running my Conrail Bicentennial diesel and it was running fine for a little while and I noticed that it had stopped even though I did not press anything on my remote to stop it. I shut it down and restarted it and started up fine but would not move when I moved the dial on my DCS remote. I did give it a push and it then took off at high speed. Also the power source I use from the Z750 transformer which is used to power up the DCS system keeps tripping even after I press the button to reset it. I have had the power source from my Z750 for 18 years and I would like to know if it is time to replace it and could that be what is causing problems with this locomotive?

Try a different engine, if it works fine the transformer is not the issue, the engine has a motion system problem.  Is one of the motors binding? Dirty, traction tire off?  Could be a bad motor, poor or loose solder connection to motor.  Tripping breaker means an over load of some sort so you need to figure this out, before more damage done to engine.  G
