My first lash-up attempt with two MTH 2-8-2 Russian Decapods and have a quick question on the coupler change out for the trailing engine.

I have removed the coupler screw securing the Kaydee coupler and am ready to insert the knuckle coupler provided by MTH with the engine.  I am not sure how to completely remove the Kaydee coupler from the engine as the pin inside the coupler itself is curved at the bottom and looks like I would need to straighten in out in order to completely remove it. I am reluctant to do this, and at this point think the safest thing to do is simply to tape the removed coupler and chain on the area underneath the front of the boiler.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
