Uncataloged Rail King O Gauge Christmas ES44 Diesel And Matching Cabooses AnnouncedJune 1, 2023 - M.T.H. Electric Trains has announced an exclusive Rail King O Gauge Imperial ES44 Diesel and matching Extended Vision Caboose in exclusive Christmas livery for M.T.H. Authorized Retailer Patrick's Trains of Wheeling, West Virginia. The locomotives and cabooses will be produced in two cab numbers each in limited quantity and are available for order on a first-come, first-served basis, with an anticipated arrival date of October 2023.

Item No. 30-77388 Christmas Extended Vision Caboose with LED Lights Item No. 30-77389 Christmas Extended Vision Caboose with LED Lights ABOUT THE RAILKING O GAUGE IMPERIAL ES44 DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE AND EXTENDED VISION CABOOSE The RailKing Imperial ES44AC comes accurately decorated in modern motive power paint schemes. Our near-scale model is a full 17" in length, yet operates comfortably on O-31 curves. Under the hood of the Proto-Sound 3.0 version is the same sound and control system found in our more expensive Premier model of this locomotive, with sounds recorded from the actual prototype. Additional Imperial features include operating diesel exhaust smoke and flashing ditch lights. If you're looking for realism and a lot of fun at a RailKing price, it doesn't get any better than this! By the end of World War II, taller cars were making it harder and harder for the crewman riding the cupola to do his job: keep an eye on the train ahead. One solution, of course, was the bay window caboose. Another more popular innovation was the extended vision, or wide vision caboose, which combined the extra width of a bay window with the height advantage of a cupola. Our model depicts the extended vision caboose introduced by International Car Company in 1953 and produced for two decades, which was rostered by railroads from coast to coast. Like diesels and other modern freight cars, this widely owned caboose was part of the postwar shift away from customized, railroad-specific locos and cars toward standardized designs produced in large quantities on efficient assembly lines.
