I called a local mth service center asked about a replacement speaker for a 464 Milwaukee steamer 20-3096-1 told him I stole one from another engine told me thats a no no? as different for 5 volt and 3 volt??

if the speakers are both rated at 5 watts and 16 ohms and are same size are they not compatible from one engine to the next?

am really curious plus had day off so I could go the 30 miles and get it today nope he's not available last repair guy this station had was same way never around when you need them and they wonder why we use online shopping more!

sorry for the rant just rubbed me wrong. would like to know if there really is a difference if any,

If the ohm and wattage ratings are the same the speakers are interchangeable even if the MTH book calls for different part numbers. The difference in part numbers could be due to a later improvement having nothing to do with compatibility (i.e. fixing the flaky plating problem with early PS-2 speakers).

PS-1 and PS-2 speakers are not compatible as they have a different ohm rating but it sounds like you are fine with your substitution. Rather than waste any more time with the LHS, why not just order a couple of them from MTH or another parts supplier?

I did exactly that I called chuck Sator he has yet to let me down and is a class act!
I have written the local fella off this place had another fella he too was never available and the sad part is it gives the good service centers a black eye because of a few that say we are a service center but never around when you need them.

as in another post sorry for the rant but gee if I gave service to our retail store customers like this I'd be on the outside looking in jobless!
