I took a MTH 30-11027 Yard Tower and a Lionel Rotating beacon and made a Control Tower for my layout I’m doing. It’s not perfect, but I think it came out alright. Used some Plasticville parts too. Just thought I’d post to see what you all think. Thx Boeingman

amazing ! A job well done.
That looks great 👍. I have a spot for a similar tower on our club's layout.
I like your painting so I will have to convince the members to replace the present tower with one like yours.

Well done!

Biggest problem I see with it is that I didn't think of it and now I have to find a tower and make it look like yours.

That’s a cool layout!
Very nice job on the control tower! Nice selection of aircraft as well!
Quick question: How is the MTH beacon powered? Is it a copy of Lionel's Vibrotor, or is there a DC motor driving the beacon?

I took a Lionel beacon tower and pulled top assembly off. Popped the red lense out and replaced with a white 30mm lense I bought on eBay. Then soldered the wiring to the lights inside the MTH tower. Now, I haven’t fired it up yet. I’m hoping this works. I’m new to this hobby, so I’m winging it here. Thx
REALLY nice!
Great work ... welcome to the world's best hobby!
Boeingman,
I think you did a real nice job with the structure. Well done.
Very creative and cool looking structure! Nice going! Enjoy!
Very creative! I had thought about using the yard tower but adding the rotary beacon is a great idea!
That is awesome!

My aircraft collection for the static display will be what you see, Plus...another Corsair and Mustang, P-38, Spitfire, B-24 Liberator, C-47, Bearcat F8F, Hawker Sea Fury. Just part of a 1/48 collection of WWII aircraft I have and want to display along with the layout.

Here's what I think... It's brilliant!! The OE's should be a bit chagrined to have not thought of it themselves! OTOH, we may see this from them in the future (2 good and 2 obvious 2 not!) And if they don't fairly soon, I may have to put it on my bucket list of 2 do's! (Lord, help me!) I dunno...I might keep the red/green lenses myself. What's 'aviation-correct'??

Truly a great build. Fire it up and let us know if that beacon works.

Green and White for a civil airport. Military beacons flash two quick whites then a green.
