In a late July 2022 TrainWorld interview [see YouTube], Mike Wolf stated that "the next batch of Z4000s [not available yet] will be the last for many years, and, in fact, the transformer may never be produced again, owing to the obsolescence of key components". Indeed, MTH was unable to source all the original components for the next batch of Z4000s, and have substituted other components which may not be as good as the original components. Consequently, it may be prudent to choose this tried-and-true original Z4000.
