I'm always lurking and I'd never leave forever unless asked  to nicely...and even then I'd still at least be lurking.

Hmmm....I'd better add "by the right people" to that asking bit, lol.

Besides, I figured Steamer needed to see a larger audience to motivate this puppi into its completion, before I can manage to finish what he has inspired with this.

...no pressure, but are you done yet?

Lol, I guess I can multitask building and waiting together.

Nope...How 'bout now? Done yet?

no, not done yet. I had a motor lined up, found one on da bay for a whole .99 opening bid. Had it until less than 12 hours left on the auction only to get home from work in the morning to find the auction was cancelled due to "an error in the listing" That's OK, got another one lined up. So in the meantime I've been going over my 600 series passenger cars.

I picked this original 201/203 motor a while back, I paid a bit more than the one you were bidding on, but I'd send it on it's way for what I paid if you are interested.  It's one of those things you grab just in case.  BTW, it was listed under ho scale brass motor.... I'm still not sure how I ended up finding it in the first place...

this was waiting for me when I got home from work yesterday.

Inside was the motor Dennis had.Had a dead short (Dennis said he hadn't tested it). A quick look revealed a grenaded E Unit drum.

I swapped out the E Unit from another motor I just picked up.A quick cleaning and some fresh oil.......and 1879 moves!

It's AC DC universal.  It might have some wiring issues.  I thought I noticed one leg of the field moves in and out like the early prewar Chicago AF motors.  I didn't look at it too much, just tossed it in.  This 1954 catalog page from IMP (early Japan brass) shows what looks like the same motor in the cheap line of train.  I think these are what later became the Saki line from IMP.

Houston......we have front coupler and Mains!(actually just one for now...need a couple parts for the other side) Thanks to  Dennis Holler for the big assist.

Had to do some grinding on the inside of the boiler shell where the rear of the motor mounts, since the Prewar motor I got from Dennis sat a touch too far forward to allow the coupler assembly to fit.

Very nice Dave. With some of those engines that I also have, I had always thought of blackening out the middle section of the crosshead guide area (if you know what I mean) to decrease the somewhat excessive chrome/silvery look.  Just a thought and it probably does not matter to most folks.
