I have many of the great Miller Engineering signs on my layout.

My latest is the small version of the Good Humor Ice Cream sign.

Since most of the small version of the signs do not come with a frame, I developed the method below to install and raise up the sign an inch or so from the layout top:

Starting with a small leftover piece of a foam block wall (from Scenic Express):

Next - Using an Exacto knife, I carved out a rectangular hole from top to bottom to push the sign connector into:

Next - I made an opening in the table top to push the sign connector through from underneath:

Next: I tested the block wall support to insure a snug fit of the sign connector:

Next: I secured the sign controller under the table top, wired to the Miller 4.5 DC volt terminal strip and installed the sign into the connector. Here are the front and back views:
