I recently added 10-12 protosmoke drops in my MTH NY Central PS3 Steam engine. When the engine runs smoke comes out from the sides as well as the stack. It looks kind of cool as if smoke was coming from the side pistons but the train didn't do that at first and I don't believe that suppose to happen. I don't think that I put too many drops in. Any advice on how to correct this? Will it eventually burn out or does it need service? Any input is appreciated! Thanks!

You need to correct that before it does more damage. I suspect the stack isn't aligned with the smoke unit, that's the most common issue. Look down the stack and see if you see the brass funnel properly aligned. If not, many times you can reach down with a small screwdriver and nudge it into place. Failing that, the shell will have to come off.
The other possibility is that you simply overfilled the stack. I did that once inadvertently and to compensate ran the engine continuously for about 15 minutes and the issue disappeared. I had no problems with the smoke unit thereafter.
